Y’all! This is my first blog post! Well, our first post; my pupper Hera is sitting right here watching me. You will be seeing a lot of her in future posts. I can’t help it, she’s just so pretty!
For my first post, I wanted to share a little bit about me and my life here in Texas. I moved to Texas from New York about 3 and a half years ago. Believe me, it was a big change. It’s definitely a lot slower paced down here but I’ve learned to somewhat enjoy it and more importantly, adapt.
I’ve worn a few different job hats during my time in Texas: ESL Teacher, Kindergarten Teacher, Bartender, and Sales Support/Logistics. I realized I no longer wanted to teach when I was having more fun designing and decorating my classroom than actually teaching in it. Leaving teaching was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. To all of the teachers out there, you are a special person in a thankless job and I honestly do not know how y’all do it.
Bartending was fun, really fun. I made great friends and great $$ too, but I knew I needed a more stable income and preferred not to work weekends. By the way, if you’re ever in Austin, you should check out Jack Allen’s Kitchen! It’s farm to table and locally sourced.—-> JAKS! (Favorite Drinks: Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita & Tito’s Sage and Grapefruit Splash ♥)
And now that brings me here, to my current position. I work for a large furniture wholesale/manufacturer based out of Austin, Texas and I love it! After looking for jobs for almost a year and going on countless interviews, I was incredibly lucky to find and land this job opportunity! This April will be my one year anniversary at the company. I heard we get gift cards for our products and I already know what I will be spending it on…
